Tap into a war mindset

Hello fellow soft society disrespector,

You see most people already know the basics of fitness:

  • it needs progressive overload to get bigger (get stronger)
  • you need to eat less to lose fat
  • you need to sleep good.

A healthy lifestyle is nothing complex. You’d think. But what most struggle with is the mental capacity. Control of the mind and to utilize their untapped energy.

This is what it ultimately comes down to, I kid you not. Why so many people stay stagnate, even though they go to the gym. Constantly doing the same weight over and over again, eating the same diet.

Every pro athlete doesn’t only have the routine dialed in. It’s much more than that. They know how to get into the ZONE. To literally push against bodily limitations, by conquering their mind.

Come game day it’s important to have the work done to build confidence. Above that new work starts:

You’re in war zone now and it’s not enough to just repeat what you’ve done in training. You need to be better and be prepared to battle it out against others.

This is why competitions are great. They hold you accountable and force you to push, if you want to win.

Your progress in the gym, ability to get lean and build substantial amount of muscle is depended on your mental game as well. This is why so many gym bros compare it with going to war.

Kevin Levrone, a top bodybuilder during the 90s would literally set up all his guns in his sleeping room to harness that energy, to motivate himself to grind through. Prepare himself to battle it out against his competitors.

You don’t need to be this intense all the time. Others would enjoy the time outside the gym more, recharge and rest. I myself do that. I just want to paint a picture here.

You could use any motivation to push further. Just realising your own greatest potential is enough. Fitness should be still there to enjoy your life.

Nowadays we have that huge trend of stoicism and people misunderstand it, believing all emotions are bad. This is not what it is.

It’s about realising what emotions you have going on and redirecting their energy. And honestly being able to conjure up special emotions. Mostly once you step into the gym.

Intensity within training is your driver to really drive adaptation. You constantly fight against homeostasis - your body’s control to stay in the exact same place.

But your mind is able to act differently. It’s smarter than the rest of the body. It can fight against the resistance of staying in the same place.

Whenever you’re in the gym you need to be concentrated and have your goal in mind. He who has a why to live can bear almost any how. To throw some Nietzsche in here. This allows you to constantly add weight, to push out another rep.

It’s trust in your own ability to get greater, to become a stronger version. Dropping all limitations. And to tap into it as a set of squat or bench starts to get hard. When you slow down in a sprint. You remember your why and justify the how - to push further into this moment, against pain, to keep the eyes on the price. Even if it means “failure” (you’ll never know unless you try).

Music, your goal, a hood over your head, taking an intense breath, even a breakup. All these things can help you intensify whatever emotions help you to grind through the training.

Also reminding yourself you only need you need to endure the pain within these ~90mins of training.

Afterwards greatness and the feeling of accomplishment awaits you. You proved to yourself you could be better again. That limitations are not real for you and you can achieve anything, if you truly want it.

If you struggle with it write all down on a pice of paper. Specify your goal and break it down to each training individually. So you directly know what you need to attack and direct your mental energy too.

Tap into your own self and the greatest machine on this planet: your brain. Whatever you dream of is possible, a sculpted physique most definitely.

Harness some energy next time you go training. Watch a motivational video as pre workout, write down what weights and reps you want to hit, visualise and execute.

Keep pushing,

Marcel

Life today is different from 100 years ago. Industrialization and the Internet changed everything. We live now in a world of instant gratification. The time has come in which people want physique goals as quick as an Amazon delivery. As instant as the hit of fast food. A date with a girl by a simple swipe. Sex by looking at a ZOGGED video… you get the point. Ultimately people want the "hack" that fixes digestion overnight. The pill that gets abs instantly. The perfect routine that feels easy...

Appetite management is the holy grail of diet success. With it you don’t have to rely on willpower. Everyone can get a sixpack once they understand the role of appetite and hunger. Look deep into theirselves and know what the body and mind really needs. This without the reach to a needle and injecting Ozempic. Just becoming a slave to pharmacy and hooked onto it like a meth addict. Most failed diets come down to this: yo-yo back up, regaining even more weight than they lost very quick; losing...

Training to failure gets constantly recycled in the fitness niche. We went from bro science “train all out, reach complete failure” (read this with Tom Platz voice), to “leave reps in reserve”, to “train to technical failure”… You hear all these words still being thrown around. Everyone tells you to train hard. Others say you only need to train shy to failure and they love ‘Reps in Reserve’. Marcel @345marcel Easy to blind fitness beginners by speaking of ’failure training‘. Your body isn’t...
